Description

Weeki Wachee is a destination that showcases the true essence of Florida’s natural beauty. It offers a wide range of outdoor activities, acres of beautiful nature preserve, water adventures, and the famous Weeki Wachee Springs Park. The park includes Buccaneer Bay; two water slides that pour into natural Weeki Wachee Springs. The park also features water rides, animal shows, mermaid costume shows, manatee watching, and more.

Highlights

I spent most of the days during my stay on the river, paddleboarding, kayaking, and canoeing with the dogs. Busch Gardens Amusement Park is only an hour away inTampa, Florida.

The Blue Grotto

The Blue Grotto AirBNB is located right on the Weeki Wachee river. The house sits on a canal that is a VERY short paddle away from crystal blue waters. I saw many manatees throughout my stay; even a mom and baby. There is a main sandbar right as you cross into the blue waters, it’s a popular hangout!  The river can be crowded at times, but there are plenty of places you can anchor to hangout and swim. There is also a super fun boat that serves food and drinks that is parked down the river at another sandbar; it has music and a great relaxing vibe.
