The Weeki Wachee area has a lot going on, but don’t miss out on a chance to see the Manatees while gliding through the river in a clear kayak. Reserve through Get Up and Go Kayaking.
Where to Stay
The Blue Grotto
The Blue Grotto AirBNB is located right on the Weeki Wachee river. The house sits on a canal that is a VERY short paddle away from crystal blue waters. I saw many manatees throughout my stay; even a mom and baby. There is a main sandbar right as you cross into the blue waters, it’s a popular hangout! The river can be crowded at times, but there are plenty of places you can anchor to hangout and swim. There is also a super fun boat that serves food and drinks that is parked down the river at another sandbar; it has music and a great relaxing vibe.
